Single-track Mechanized Maintenance

Single-track trails getting some much needed mechanized maintenance over the past couple weeks. Maintenance completed in direct partnership with the Helena Ranger District portion of Helena-Lewis and Clark National Forest. This has been a long and successful partnership that has resulted in much needed upkeep on our public trails in the area.

Singletrack maintenance requires specific skilled contractors with the requisite trail maintenance knowledge and smaller equipment. Some of the goals for this type of maintenance are to repair heavily rutted sections, washed-out areas, and portions that may have been damaged by other erosion type events. The goals are not intended to change the overall difficulty level of the single-track trails, but rather to correct obvious safety issues and / or drainage erosion issues. This type of maintenance helps extend the life of the trails with more sustainable tread design that will allow them to be used well into the future.
